It's official. I'll never buy an Acer laptop again. Crappy thing died on me for the second time in a month already. Oh well... At least now I have a decent excuse to get a new laptop.

Tinnitus still there, but it's much better now. Thank God. Also passed CNS and recieved my matching results. I got matched to the school I wanted, University of Adelaide. I'll be going there to do my clinical training next year, if I pass EOS 5...

Am now in Xian-Nian's place puting the finishing touches to some convocation magazine layouts. Saving and loading the files are taking so long, that I've decided to type this entry in between. Arghh.... the more technology advances, the more problem-riddled it gets.

Subang Jaya is a dangerous place

Freak storms, getting struck dead by lightning (the boy in USJ 16), snatch thefts, robberies, kidnapping and murder. A once peaceful (was it ever peaceful to begin with?) town is peaceful no longer...

As most of you already know, the number of snatch thefts and robberies in Subang are on the rise. Getting your money stolen is one thing, but nearly losing your life is another.

A few months ago, a friend of my mom was assulted in a lift by a snatch thief. The man whacked her on the head with a hammer, took her handbag, and left her to bleed her life away. She was severely injured (duh, got whacked by a hammer), but managed to make it to the hospital in time. Thank goodness she's recovered fully.

Then today we recieved yet another bit of shocking news. Funny thing is we got to know of it through a rumour (by another friend of my mom) before we talked to the victim in person.

Yesterday, my piano teacher had just finished teaching a student in USJ 2. She got into her car, was about to drive off when suddenly, a Malay man on a motorbike came from behind and smashed a brick into her side window. The thief reached in, took her handbag and sped off. But this thief must have been not only brutal and desperate, but also rather proud of his 'achievement'. Cos as he rode off, he turned around and LAUGHED at her. Upon seeing his glee, Teacher K (names changed to protect privacy) geram already. So she drove after him. The thief, seeing her chasing him, accelerated some more. So much so that he lost control of his bike and crashed into one of the houses. I think he crashed into the grill. 'Cos he flew out of his bike and landed on the floor, bloody.

And then he died.

And my teacher got her handbag back. A police report was made, of course. Talked to her earlier in the afternoon when she came for class. She's still quite shocked by it all.

This happened yesterday afternoon during Friday prayers. While his fellow Muslims were devoting their afternoon to their God, this man was out and about smashing car windows and terrorising the community.

I'm a strong believer of Karma, what goes around comes around. In an ideal setting, this robbery should not have even occured Or maybe this man would have been caught, punnished, repents and starts his life anew as a law-abiding, productive member of society. But the world ain't perfect. Anyhow, I think this guy deserved it.
